Lily Tang Williams urges end to shutdown, calls ACA aid unstainable

Lily Tang Williams calls for end of shutdown & health care subsidies | CloseUp

Good morning. I’m Adam Sexton. We’re going to spend some time in the 2nd congressional district this morning. We’ve often said it doesn’t quite get the same attention as its more easterly counterpart, but there are some exciting matchups shaping up on the Republican side. The bulk of that enthusiasm is behind the candidacy of Lily To Williams, who so far has managed. Keep the GOP field all to herself. Ms. Tom Williams is our guest this morning on close up. Lily, thanks for coming in again. Good to be back here. It’s part of fun to campaigns come here to share with you. I’m glad if if candidates think it’s fun to come here, that’s great. I appreciate it. So, uh, in Gaza, if this is *** lasting piece that we’re seeing here. How involved should the United States be moving forward, whether that’s with personnel we see the president is sending *** few 100 troops there right now and then also *** financial commitment. How much involvement should America have moving forward? Well, I would say I’m super happy to see this peace deal is *** sign of. Of course, we have to make sure it will follow through and you have phase 1, phase 2 and 3 coming and uh but this is like *** number 8 or 10s peace deal President Trump made. He’s *** very dedicated toward peace and he’s also *** businessman. I’m hoping that he will form *** coordination. Especially involving other Middle Eastern countries and of course the um Israel and the and the Gaza people to rebuild that place. It looks horrible. It looks like not livable right now. So but in terms of American people, you know, I mean our um financial resources are limited. And it will be more like, hey, let’s stop the killing hostages come home then and involve our allies and the people and to rebuild. I’m, I’m hoping that uh you know, this is gonna long lasting. It’s not just good for the uh those two countries people but for the Middle East and, and for the whole world. Yeah, if this is *** lasting peace, it’s an unquestionable triumph for President Trump. We’re seeing one member of Congress already, uh, Congressman Fine from Florida saying, uh, if this goes through, he wants to repeal the 22nd Amendment. He thinks Trump should get *** chance of *** third term if this happens. Would you support that in Congress? Do you think it would be good to repeal the 22nd Amendment? Well, that required *** constitutional amendment. I, I, yeah, it’s *** long process and probably not one that would happen, but it would start in Congress. So is that something you would support? I have not thought about that, but I’m the one who really wants to always defend our constitution and uh um. I, I don’t know. I think that people talk all kinds of stuff. I have not even looked into and um but I think that he deserved Nobel Peace Prize so that’s something we should have focused on, yeah. The government shutdown, uh, obviously, uh, we’re still locked in the middle of this as we record this on *** Friday morning afternoon I should say, uh, should the Republicans cut *** deal on the Affordable Care Act subsidies that the Democrats want it does seem like it’s going to cause *** lot of disruption in the health insurance market if those subsidies run out. Well, that the people keep saying that I mean my Poland and Democrats all blame Republicans for the shutdown. They clean CR, that means the same CR they voted for in the past 13 times on the Biden. It’s continued funding government for additional just *** few weeks, then they can negotiate, right? But right now they, they, they’re, they’re just shutting down and blame on Republicans and no time, no. No potential of solution even to negotiate because they shut that down. I will suggest people call our US senators because we need 60 votes in the US Senate. And to actually end the shutdown. So now they’re short of just maybe 3 or 4 Democrats joined Republicans to open up. You have 9100 people, uh, 9100 people in New Hampshire employed by federal government and they’re living paycheck to paycheck. Then you have lots of children and lots of people who are on like *** snap. So I’m hoping that they will work out very fast and open up and then negotiate. I think once you negotiate *** regular budget, then you have more. Taken and the compromise, but right now it’s just like *** stop the shutdown and I really want them to open up, but, but it depends on the US senators and Democrats. So this is Schumer shutdown. Don’t blame Republicans, you know, I, I think of all the mainstream media and the Democrat politicians, they don’t tell the whole truth. You know, it’s not Republican controlled Congress. They still need the 60 votes in the US Senate to pass this, but they are short of *** few Democrat votes. Yeah, whether it happens. The shutdown or not, do you think that those ACA subsidies should be continued? or do you worry about what’s going to happen if they expire? You know, I, I really feel pain of people who are seeing their premium go up. Um, but to be honest with you, even Washington Post say the, the biggest problem is the Affordable Care Act, Obamacare is not affordable. After so 15 years, the premium doubled, the tax subsidy by the taxpayers by the federal government keep going up. It’s. Not sustainable. And I really think that uh we need to look at alternative and choices for the consumers and I got to kick off the insurance after my husband had an early retirement. I, I could not even afford Obamacare because we just the premium is *** lot every month, then the deductible is average $6000. So I shop around in the marketplace. I found the medical share. So I offer people to look for medical share programs that were. Are you in the premium to have and it’s affordable every month. And if you have preexisting conditions, that’s probably you have to wait for 2 years. Also, there’s *** direct primary care physician, you pay membership fee, then you can have unlimited doctor phone calls and visitors. I mean there are lots of alternatives to counter Obamacare because just not affordable, but I really feel the pain for the granite staters who is going to say their premium going up, you know, I, I probably will not continue to support. And some of the same stuff expanded under Biden because the pandemic, they expanded, you know, the, the subsidies and they um up to like uh over 400 poverty now you can still get *** basically subsidy, but, but our country is broke you keep spending like they just not. Sustainable we need to have *** market solutions. There’s lots of things we look at including our state. How about open up to buy insurance across state lines, increase competition. That’s the key word, more competition and more choices and policies, catastrophic insurance for young people who don’t have issues and bring that cost down. One of your biggest local issues over the last several months has been this uh property situation in Nashua with the Chinese controlled company Nongfu Spring coming in to buy *** property there and they were going to use *** lot of water. Uh, we still don’t know exactly why this happened. We know that some have theorized that this is just *** big competition between some of the wealthiest men in China trying to sort of pad their stats right on their assets and whatnot. Do you believe there’s actually. nefarious intent here by the Chinese actors involved. The most important we need to understand in New Hampshire and People’s Republic of China, it’s our largest adversary with *** 100% dictatorship, dictatorship of CCP and they have *** national intelligence law compels all their business people, all their. Citizens overseas carry Chinese passport to corroborate with Chinese government for information for XPage. I mean, it doesn’t matter like those might be honest business people or good students and Chinese people here. But if the Chinese government wants them to do something, they cannot say no because their families, their assets will be under, you know, humongous risk. So, I think this whole thing closed quietly. Nobody told the truth. I’ve been sound alarm since May. I did 10 interviews. And uh so I was the first one in our state to blow that up. And uh whenever we’re told, oh, it was *** state economic development, we have no idea. So we went to Nashua in August and on WMUR in July, then we were told, oh, it’s *** state. So I think that I have *** an *** job here to warn the people about China to educate our state legislators to say, hey, maybe we should uh pass *** stronger laws right now we have current law took effect, but it’s too late it’s. Not retroactively applying to those three Chinese big land deals ownership in our state. So I think we need to have *** stronger legislation. All right, Lilian Williams, thanks for joining us here on Close Up. We always appreciate the time. Oh, thank you for having me here.
